"THE REALITY OF BLOOD COVENANT"
A Word Study
By George Clouse
Recently, while I was contemplating God's plan for my life, I was
impressed with Him reminding me of His Word in Psalms 46:10: "Be
still and know that I am God." So I immediately stayed still
and listened.
The first impression I got was that God said: "My
potential for you is to write articles." I thought back on
my life. My first article published, was in a secular magazine in
1948 (some 60 years ago), and I have published countless articles,
as well as numerous books. I was born again in 1970 and since then
have written only Christian books and articles. As I continued my
quiet time with the Lord, He told me to do a Word Study using English
words so that we might understand "The Reality of God".
We read things in the Bible, as well as hear Bible Expository Teachings
that we embrace, yet still do not fully understand. The purpose
of this teaching is to reveal these things.
The Bible tells us in Genesis 1:26: "Let us
make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion
over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over
the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing
that creepeth upon the earth."
Then in Genesis 5:1: "This is the book of the
generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness
of God made he him. Male and female created he them; and blessed
them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created."
(In the New King James Bible the word Adam here in translated 'Mankind'.)
Of course we all know the original Bible was written
in Hebrew, and has been translated into English, for only a few
people can read Hebrew. This word "Adam" was not translated,
it was transliterated. In other words, the Hebrew was taken for
Adam which is "aw-dawm." The last part of the word "dawm"is
pronounced "dam" or maybe as we would say it "dom".
So, if we really translate it, we would have to break the word down
into "au-dom" which would make more sense to us in our
language. The word "dom" is a root Hebrew word from which
many words are formed. To find out what the word "dom"
really means, we look in Leviticus17:1: "For the life of the
flesh is in the blood." That word "blood" in Hebrew
is "dom" so the root word of AuDom is blood. When reading
Hebrew we read from right to left (not from left to right as we
do in English). With that in mind, if we translate that word "Audom"
it would read "Dom" which is blood, and then "Au",
which is the Hebrew abbreviation of "God," or in other
words, "Blood of God."
With all this in mind, we read in Chapter 5 that
God created them male and female and blessed them, and called their
name Adam (blood of God). In other words the very blood of God flowed
in their veins, both the man and the woman.
Then the Serpent, we are told in Chapter 3, enchanted
them, (in the Hebrew it says "nachash" or an enchanter
or magician), and he fooled Adam and Eve and poisoned their blood
so that they were no longer invincible, for their blood was not
pure. This was the very reason that Jesus had to be born of a virgin,
for the gene for the blood comes from the father and the blood of
Jesus had to be pure so He could be sacrificed, once and for all,
for the sins of man.
This is made plain to us in the New Testament in
I Corinthians 15:45: "And so it is written, the first man Adam
was made a living soul' and the last Adam was made a quickening
spirit." If we use our translation for this it would say:The
first "blood of God" was Adam and Eve and the last "blood
of God" was Jesus. I hope, this teaching on the "Blood
Covenant" is now made plain to you.
We are told in I John 1:7: "But if we walk in
the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of
Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin." Then again
in Revelations 12:11: "And they overcame him (satan) by the
blood of the Lamb (Jesus) and by the word of their testimony."
There are numerous other facts about the healing, saving, renewing
power of the blood of Jesus and the covenant that God gave us through
His Son.
I hope you have enjoyed this Word Study and receive
many blessings, as well as healing, health, and prosperity from
contemplating on it.
