"THE REALITY OF ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT"
A Word Study
By George Clouse
God brought to my conscious mind, during a time when I was still
and waiting for Him to speak. He reminded me of Ephesians 4:23:
"and be renewed in the spirit of your mind." One version
of the Bible says to be renewed in the Attitude of your mind, instead
of the spirit. I felt He told me I needed to renew my attitude.
Then I was led to Romans 12:2, "And do not be
conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your
mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect
will of God."
The revelation of this verse became apparent as I
studied on it. The Bible said we were to be "transformed by
the renewing of our mind." The word transformed comes from
a synonymy we are accustomed to; metamorphose. A caterpillar spins
himself a web and then through the process of metamorphose, he turns
into a beautiful butterfly.
God says in Romans that the same process comes about as we are "transformed
by the renewing of our mind." How do I renew my mind? I asked.
By changing your mind, He told me.
At this time I realized a truth. It is impossible
to change another person. We may not like their actions or their
talk but we cannot change them. In fact, we cannot even change ourselves.
We can make up our mind to change and then let God take over and
He can change us for the better. If we stubbornly try to change,
without His help it is a useless process. Many people have tried
to drop old addictive habits and failed, in their own power, and
then when they relied on Jesus to help it was a new situation.
Let's get on with breaking this down with our Word
Study so we can understand just what renewing our mind is. Our soul
is made up of three parts: mind, will, and emotions.
We read in Proverbs 23:7 "For as he thinks in his heart, so
is he." This tells us that whatever we think on constantly
is what we are and do. Therefore if you think on the world and the
trials and tribulations of it at all times, then that is what you
become. If you think on God's Word, His plan for your life, and
such, then that too is what you become. If you constantly dwell
on God's Word then you are renewing your mind and this is good.
This brings me to Psalms 19:14: "Let the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord,
my strength and my Redeemer." May this be your prayer today
as you meditate on this Word Study.
Also there is one other thing I want to bring out
today. I play a Gibson Guitar on occasion. I play it mostly for
my own entertainment and God prompted me to pen a song as I was
renewing my mind and reaching out for Him. I will print it here.
Again I hope you enjoy it and I feel that as I sang it over and
over then my entire being was renewed and new vim, vigor and vitality
entered my being and I truly became a new creation. I had previously
been born again and that is a new creation but with this renewing
in my spirit I went through a metamorphose, and an entirely new
person. I hope you enjoy reading the words to the song, or even
singing it if you have the wherewithal to do that:
THANK YOU LORD
A New Song by George W. Clouse (Based
on Psalms 103, verse 1 through 5)
(If you sing it continually I believe you will renew your youth)
(Played on a guitar in the key of E)
I thank You Lord for Your goodness, for Your
Son who set me free,
I thank You Lord for Your Spirit, Who lifts and comforts me,
I thank You Lord for Your Power, You sent down from above,
But most of all, I thank You for Your Love . . .
I thank You Lord for Your forgiveness, You
wrought by Your Son,
I thank You Lord for Your healing, given by the chosen One,
I thank You Lord for Your blessings, sent down from above,
But most of all, I thank You for Your Love . . .
I thank You Lord, for Your completeness,
brought by the Three in One,
I thank You Lord, for Your fullness, given by Your only Son,
I thank You Lord, for Your guidance, made alive by a dove,
But most of all, I thank You for Your Love . . .
I thank You Lord for Your goodness, for Your
Son who set me free,
I thank You Lord for my new life, I live in victory,
I thank You Lord for Jesus, who shed His blood on Calvary,
But most of all, I thank You for Your Love . . .
BUT MOST OF ALL, I THANK YOU FOR YOUR LOVE
. . .
BUT MOST OF ALL, I THANK YOU FOR YOUR LOVE
. . .
